Episode 1: Light in the Darkness

Featuring: Tim Sookhoo

There is something unforgettable about the stories we carry from childhood.
Tim Sookhoo, Founder of Life Learners, shared one of those memories with us. As a young boy, he would get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. His toys were scattered everywhere, and because the room was pitch dark, he kept bumping into things. He hit his shin on a toy car, stepped on a Lego, and even knocked his nose on the wall while trying to feel his way through the darkness.

It sounds humorous now, but the truth behind it is something we all understand.
We know what it feels like to walk through places that feel dark, confusing, and painful. We try to find our way, but we stumble. We hit walls. We step on things we did not see coming.

Tim reminded us that this is why Jesus came.
This is what Christmas is.

Christmas is God stepping into our darkness.
Not to judge the mess on the floor,
but to guide us through it.
To shine a light where we could not see.
To steady our steps when we feel lost.
To remind us that we never walk alone.

Whatever darkness you may be navigating today, Christmas tells us that the Light came.
And the Light still comes.

Scripture for Today

Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

Reflection Materials

1. Quiet Moment
Set aside five minutes today. Sit in stillness and breathe. Ask yourself:
Where do I feel like I am walking in darkness?

2. Journal Prompt
Write this sentence and finish it in your own words:
Lord, shine Your light on the part of my life that feels dark…

3. Simple Step of Faith
Light a candle or turn on a lamp in your room. Watch how the darkness gives way to light. Let it remind you that His presence works the same way in your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus, the Light that breaks through darkness.
Even when life feels confusing, uncertain, or heavy, remind me that Your light is near.
Guide my steps, reveal the path You have prepared for me, and bring hope to the corners of my heart that feel lost.
Let Your light shine bright in me today and every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call to Action

Before the day ends, share this message with someone:
You are not alone. The Light has come and is with you today.
It may be the encouragement they have been waiting for.
